Privacy Policy
Cocktail Compass Privacy Policy
Effective date: 5 May 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Cocktail Compass app for mobile devices and related services operated by Andrew Tupper. Cocktail Compass is provided as a commercial service and is intended for use as is.
Information Collection and Use
Cocktail Compass may collect information when you download and use the app. Depending on the features you use, this information may include:
- Your account details, such as your name and email address
- Recipes, tasting entries, pantry data, and other content you choose to save
- Your device Internet Protocol address, operating system, and general app usage information
- Credit wallet and purchase records for advanced tool credit top-ups
- Images you submit for bottle scanning, recipe scanning, or recipe image generation
The app may access your device camera so you can take or upload photos for supported features. Those photos may be processed by third-party services when required to provide features such as bottle scanning, recipe scanning, or recipe image generation.
Cocktail Compass does not intentionally collect precise location information from your mobile device.
Artificial Intelligence Features
Cocktail Compass uses optional AI-powered features to help with bottle identification, recipe scanning, and recipe image generation. When you use these tools, relevant content such as images, recipe information, or feature metadata may be transmitted to AI service providers so the feature can work.
These advanced tools require an account and may use advanced tool credits. If you choose not to use these tools, you can continue using other parts of the app without them.
How Your Information Is Used
Cocktail Compass may use your information to:
- Provide sign-in, password reset, and account-related features
- Back up your recipes, tastings, and related app data to the cloud
- Process advanced tool credit purchases and wallet balances
- Operate optional AI-powered features and related app functionality
- Improve reliability, security, and user support
- Send important notices related to your account or app access
Third-Party Access
Cocktail Compass uses third-party services that may process information as part of providing app features. These may include:
- PocketBase for account and application data storage
- Cloudflare for APIs, hosting, and infrastructure services
- Google Play services for Android billing and purchase processing
- Brevo or other email services for account emails such as password reset
- OpenAI and other AI-related providers for optional advanced tools
Third-party providers have their own privacy policies and handling practices. Where relevant, you should review those policies separately.
Disclosure of Information
Your information may be disclosed when necessary:
- To comply with legal obligations or lawful requests
- To protect rights, safety, prevent fraud, or respond to security issues
- To trusted service providers who help operate Cocktail Compass
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all information collection by the app by uninstalling it using the standard uninstall process available on your device or through the app store.
Data Retention
Account information, synced recipes, tasting entries, pantry-related content, and other user-saved data may be retained for as long as your account remains active or as long as needed to provide app features such as cloud backup and account restore.
Credit wallet records, purchase records, transaction history, and related billing or fraud-prevention data may be retained for a longer period where reasonably necessary for accounting, dispute handling, security, or legal compliance.
Support emails or account-related inquiries may also be retained for a reasonable period so user support requests can be handled and documented.
Account Deletion and Data Deletion
If you would like to request deletion of your Cocktail Compass account or account-related data, contact andromedacreationsau@gmail.com.
You can also submit an account deletion request through the public account deletion page: Delete Account.
When a valid deletion request is received, reasonable steps will be taken to delete or de-identify personal data associated with your account, except where retention is reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, financial records, legal compliance, or the resolution of disputes.
Data stored only on your device may also remain on that device until you remove the app or delete the local data yourself.
Children's Privacy
Cocktail Compass is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact andromedacreationsau@gmail.com so appropriate action can be taken.
Security
Reasonable steps are taken to protect the information processed by Cocktail Compass. However, no system can guarantee absolute security, and you should also protect your own device and account credentials.
